Financial Support

It is the financial, in-kind, and volunteer support of individuals, businesses and organizations here in our community that makes our programs and services possible.  Your financial investment helps to ensure we can continue this amazing effort of neighbors helping neighbors.  When this happens, our community is strengthened and we’re all empowered to live better lives.

Monetary donations can be made to one of three funds:

  • PULSE Fund – Like a heartbeat, our general fund makes our work in the community possible. Your investment will support Programs, Upkeep and utilities for our facility; Leadership including staff, board, and lead volunteers; supplies and merchandise for our Store; and Educational programs for our clients and the community.
  • Neighbor-to-Neighbor Fund – This fund provides emergency financial support and a volunteer response team to assist local families going through an unexpected and short-term crisis or trauma
  • Scholarship Fund – Supports local students who demonstrate financial need and are pursuing higher education

We invite you to join our team of Neighborhood Champions by becoming a monthly donor. You can also make a one-time gift, become a legacy donor, or support our organization in one of the many unique ways listed below.  Neighborhood Connection is a 501(c)(3) exempt organization, EIN #61-1513411, and your donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Thrivent Choice Dollars® – Are you a member of Thrivent Financial who’s eligible to direct Choice Dollars? Choice Dollars charitable outreach funds can make a world of difference for Neighborhood Connection and our clients as we work together to strengthen our community. By directing Choice Dollars, eligible Thrivent members recommend where they feel Thrivent should distribute a portion of its charitable funds. Directing Choice Dollars is easy. Simply go to Thrivent.com/thriventchoice, or call (800)847-4836 and say “Thrivent Choice” after the prompt, to learn more and find program terms and conditions

Donate Items for the Community Store

Another important way that you can support families experiencing financial insecurity is to donate new or gently used clothing and household items for our Community Store. These are then made available free of charge to those who need them.

We accept items such as children’s and adult clothing, accessories, and outerwear; household goods including kitchenware, dishes, and home décor; toys, games, and puzzles; books; DVDs; and new toiletries, cleaning supplies, and paper products. Please refer to the list of items we accept for more information.

Many donors like to purchase new items to fill a specific need for a client family. View our current wish list and purchase items wherever you prefer. Want to save money on donation items? Check out Capital One Shopping to compare prices.

We currently are not accepting furniture due to a shortage of volunteers on our furniture team.  We hope to start this service again in the Spring of 2022 with pick-ups and deliveries taking place on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month. If you or a group that you are a part of would be interested in helping occasionally with furniture deliveries, please contact us at wncteam@waunakeenc.org or (608)849-5740.
