Amazing neighbors make our community stronger by always looking out for others and bringing people together. Whether it is by organizing a meal train to make sure that a neighbor going through a hard time has dinner every night, planning the neighborhood block party, removing snow and raking leaves for a homebound neighbor, or other acts of kindness, such individuals are the glue that hold our community together and make everyone feel welcome.
The Neighbor of the Year Award sponsored by Waunakee Neighborhood Connection honors someone who exemplifies our “neighbors helping neighbors” mission in the community. Past winners include Joel Lewis (2023), Jess Pagel (2024), and Monique Mobley (2025). This year’s winner will be honored at the Waunakee Area Chamber of Commerce Community Awards celebration in April.

Los vecinos ejemplares fortalecen nuestra comunidad al estar siempre atentos a los demás y unir a las personas. Ya sea organizando un sistema de entrega de comidas para asegurar que un vecino que atraviesa un momento difícil tenga cena todas las noches, planificando la fiesta del barrio, quitando la nieve y rastrillando las hojas para un vecino que no puede salir de casa, o realizando otros actos de bondad, estas personas son el pilar que mantiene unida a nuestra comunidad y hace que todos se sientan bienvenidos.
El Premio al Vecino del Año, patrocinado por Waunakee Neighborhood Connection, reconoce a alguien que ejemplifica nuestra misión de “vecinos que se ayudan mutuamente” en la comunidad.
